Alright, I admit it. This is kind of cheating. I took these photos way back in 2008 with my Nikon D40 and kit lens. This was my first DSLR, which I got on Boxing Day 2007. You can get the story of my challenges that day here.
I’m looking back at older images for inspiration and to see what I have done that may be worth revisiting. I’m getting some ideas and looking for many more ways and subjects that I can use to build upon my current skills.
Needless to say that I loved my D40. So much, in fact, that when I had an opportunity to get one after upgrading to my D90, I jumped at it. Details at Welcoming an Old Friend.
I was proud of these images. Note the colour saturation in them. At that time, I didn’t have an understanding of exposure but am still happy with them. This is, of course, in the context of my skill level at the time.
These ducks were in a pond at Jack Pine Trail, in Ottawa.
I also found a couple of swans at Rideau Ferry Harbour.
And, of course, since chickadees are so abundant, we don’t miss out on them either.
Nice bokeh on these next ones, I think.
Since my eldest daughter was nervous about a chickadee landing on her hand, she took this one while I held steady.
I think I got some good images back then and I was definitely inspired. I will review more of my older images and share them soon.
